  •   My boyfriend and I just discovered this spot today and we were beyond pleased with the food and the service. It's a Sunday and we went at around 5ish and we were the only ones there which was crazy to me because it was such great food. I asked the server-Silvia- how long they had been open and she said they've been in business for about 18 months, so it's fairly new. That explains it (must be). I would've never discovered the place without yelp, very lowkey. Anyway, we ordered 2 appetizers that didn't disappoint. The truffle fries have actual chunks of Parmesan on them and it's not overwhelming... it's just right and a good shareable size. The fried dumplings were too big in my opinion, but very crunchy and satisfying. Silvia gave us suggestions with our entrees and we loved them. The food is different and so nicely presented. I really loved everything about this place. I hope business picks up for them because I'd love to continue experiencing their food. Also, it's a super clean place and the decor is homey!!! 10/10

  •   Well while searching for Spanish food for a change, Despensa caught my attention at the end of a hard week after a Hurricane.

Despense is two businesses in one.
    - There is a side with a play ground for kids, while parents can enjoy drinks and great quality meal.
    - Not interested in noise and kids playing? Well there is the other side. Next door is separated by a small hallway with the same menu and much quieter area.

    Parking:
Despensa is located in a shopping center between Going Bananas and Bonsai. So no issues with parking.

    Decor:
I liked it. In gray color with lamps that are nice and perfect lighting. (Not too much, not to lack)
Placemats brands their name as well as their established year of 1977. Not once but twice.

    Staff:
Very helpful, knowledgeable and on top of their customers to ensure we got what we needed. (Water, complimentary chips with melted cheese dip or a chit chat)

    Food:
    - We started with Mahi mahi Islands which is a serving of four stuffed green plantains (tostones rellenos) with diced mango, green peppers and sesame seeds. Very tasteful and with a surprised spice that  was very pleasant.

    - Kids got cheeseburgers with fries generous portion of fries for kids.

    - Bacon wrapped chicken with sweet plantains inside wow.
    - Picanha a la brasa (normally sliced in other places, this was a piece of meat, perfectly cooked with Spanish chorizo and chimichurri saute) This was my favorite tonight.

By the way, entrees come with two sides.

    Dessert:
I tried the Cuban cannoli. It was made out of dumplings formed in four tacos stuffed with cream cheese and guava, then deep fried. Served with vanilla ice cream and guava marmalade and lemon peel sprinkles. Ummm.

Huge compliments for Silvia who took care of us. She was stellar. Couldn't be happier. We had a great service and experience for everyone.

Like Arnold said "I'll be back"
    The question is: Will you?

  •   Their crispy chicken wings tossed in Bacardi Superior rum, guava coconut and balsamic reduction glaze are so delicious. I'm rarely a fan of their wing but the sauce they use on their wings I'll be going back for more. Seriously... I want to buy a bottle of their sauce to take home.

Their cheese tequeños and cachapita rolls are outstanding also. They have quite a stretchy cheese pull with dipping sauces that will leave everyone at the table fighting for the last one.

Their tacos, mussels, and desserts were also amazing and I can't wait to go back to try more things on the menu.

  •   Great menu. The creative tag in their name is definitely worth it. It is not a casual restaurant. It is not appropriate for a date night or group dinner. Order the bacon wrapped chicken. It was very good just wished it was warmer.

  •   This is truly one of my favorite spots in West Kendall!  What an amazing selection of creative food options that are both artistic and delicious!
The complimentary chips are so crisp and that cheese sauce they come with is addicting!!!
Now for food, this is a perfect spot to go to with friends and just to tapas style appetizers because there is so much variety to try!
The tequeños are amazing, and being Venezuelan myself I had to also order the cachapita sticks to go along with them!
The crispy dumplings filled with steak are so good too! I can go on and on, just check out my photos! Nothing was disappointing.
The crispy chicken wings, another favorite!  The sauce they are tossed in is so unique! Tossed in Bacardi rum, guava, coconut, and a red wine and balsamic reduction.
The Spanish Chorizo Seco, another addicting item!!!  With the chips on the side, it added the perfect touch.
The truffles fries, I could eat daily!!  With the perfect amount of parmesan cheese on top!!
The carnitas tacos exploded with flavor!!!!
Mahi Mahi Islands, so fluffy and not too filling, which is perfect when you're trying to feast on so many items!
I'm sure they will be seeing more of me in the future.  The servers are so amazing, I really like Sylvia!!!  And the owners are super sweet and charming.  I highly recommend this spot if you're in West Kendall exploring!!!
